Desk Rug is a small native macOS app that lays a real cloth rug over your desktop. Not a picture of a rug — cloth. The fabric is a live simulation rendered through Metal: grab it by any edge, drag it, fold it, drop it, and it settles under its own weight. The point is the mess. One hotkey (configurable) sweeps your icons underneath the rug into a tidy pile — they're really moved via Finder, nothing is deleted — and puts them back around the edge in the exact spots you left them when the call ends.
Building something too? List it free — or put it at the top of every page.
