How many upvotes does it take to get featured on Product Hunt?
On a typical measured day: 133 upvotes.
That is the median of the lowest score among the featured launches on each of the last 89 days we read, 19 May 2026 to 15 August 2026. It moves. We re-read it every day, and this page changes with it.
The number in its context
676 products launch on Product Hunt on a typical day. Rank 100 of that day sits at 5 upvotes. So the distance between "launched" and "featured" is not a nudge — it is the difference between single digits and three figures, and it is decided almost entirely by how many people a founder can reach on the day.
Median, not average. Product Hunt days are skewed: one viral launch pulls a mean further than the platform moves in a month. Every figure here is the middle day, which is the day a reader is actually planning for.
It has not been the same number
One month per row, each figure the median of that month's measured days. The day count is there so you can see how much weight each row carries.
| Month | Featured at | Launches / day | Days measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| August 2026 | 116 | 674 | 15 |
| July 2026 | 148 | 740 | 31 |
| June 2026 | 133 | 643 | 30 |
| May 2026 | 139 | 636 | 17 |
What this number is not
It is not a rule Product Hunt publishes, and it is not a level that buys anything. Featuring is an editorial decision. What we measure is the lowest score among the launches that were featured on each day — an observed floor, not a threshold anyone promises.
Reaching it does not mean you will be featured. Falling short of it does mean the odds are against you, and that is the useful half: it is a number you can hold your own reach up against before you pick a date, while there is still time to do something about the answer.
Where the number comes from
We read every Product Hunt launch day after it has closed — how many products entered, what the winner scored, what the lowest featured launch scored, and what rank 100 cost. The day is stored once and never re-read, so this is a record, not an estimate that gets tidied up later. One more day is added every day.
We do the same on several other launch platforms, which is what lets a review answer the question before this one: whether Product Hunt is the right room for your launch at all.
Is your reach enough for that?
That is the first thing the pre-launch review settles — and if the answer is no, it says so and names the platform where your reach is enough. Plus your date, your tagline, your first comment drafted, and an honest number for what your launch will realistically do. Within 48 hours, and you pay only after we accept.
