Launch data archive

Nobody counts launch days. So we do: every day, on four boards, after the day has closed — how many products entered, what the winner scored, and what each placement down the ranking cost. One more day on file, every day.

What is in it

The day archive

Every measured day on every board: how big the field was, what first place cost, from how many upvotes a launch was featured, where ranks 5, 10 and 100 sat. With a date filter and CSV export.

Distributions, not averages

“On 3 days out of 4, X upvotes were enough” is something you can plan with. An average is something you can only quote.

Weekdays — with the noise measured

Which day was cheaper, and whether the difference is even larger than the usual day-to-day swing. Where it is not, the page says “no recommendation” instead of giving you one.

Categories

How large each category is and what the top of it cost — summed over 90 days, because single days are far too small to compare.

The board comparison, unlimited

One upvote count, one day, every board: what that number would have been enough for, and where. On its own the same calculation costs 4,99 € — here it runs for any day and any number.

Your own launches

Product Hunt, Uneed, Show HN and Fazier: we look for your launch in the data of its day. Where we cannot find it, you get the reason instead of an empty row.

Directory check

Does an entry there leave a link search engines follow? We fetch the listing page and read the rel on the link to your product. 20 checks a day.

How reliable each number is

Some sources cut off — Uneed’s API stops at rank 50. Days like that are marked as a floor rather than passed off as a total.

Where the data comes from

Four boards, each with its own source and its own limits. Both are shown next to every number inside the archive as well.

BoardSourceLimit
Product Hunt official API A single launch can be looked up directly. Complete days.
Uneed official API The ranking ends at place 50. Bigger days are a floor, not a total — and they are labelled as one.
Show HN official search API Points rather than upvotes. A post can be found by the URL it submitted.
Fazier read off the page No API. If the page layout changes, the day is missing — and it says so, instead of showing an estimate.

What is not in it

What a launch brings you in visitors or signups. None of these boards publishes traffic figures — anyone quoting you a number for that is estimating and calling it data. We measure what a placement cost. What it brought in is measured by your own analytics, and more accurately than any outsider could.

Also not included: anything about the people behind the launches. We do not build profiles and we do not sell contact lists.

Do you actually need this?

One single launch — then probably not

The launch check is free and puts one launch against its own day. The comparison against the other boards costs 4,99 € there, once, with no account.

Launching regularly — then yes

The value is in the record being kept up, not in one download: every day adds another measured day. An export taken today is an old state four weeks from now.

Planning a launch and want it written out rather than looking things up yourself? That is the Launch Kit — one-time, delivered within 48 hours.
